NUTRITIONAL MANAGEMENT OF OBESITY: WHAT REALLY WORKS

Obesity is associated with multiple health risks. This workshop will examine the proper assessment of the obese patient and the latest perspectives on managing obesity related health risks and effective weight loss interventions. A critical evaluation of 'diets' and what really works will be highlighted.

NUTRITIONAL MANAGEMENT OF THE LOCAL AND SYSTEMIC INFLAMMATION + NUTRITIONAL MANAGEMENT IN SUPPORTING RECOVERY FROM MSK INJURY AND POST-SURGERY

Inflammatory processes underpin cancer, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis and sarcopenia. Much progress has been made in understanding how nutrition can modulate both local and systemic inflammation. This session will explore the most effective strategies to modulate inflammation and reduce disease risk and burden.

HUMAN BIOME IN HEALTH & DISEASE

An rapidly increasing body of evidence is highlighting the role that gut flora plays in human health and disease. From obesity to heart disease, the bacterial load in the human gut exerts great influence in determining health status. This workshop will explore the current understanding of the importance of the human biome and describe how it may be altered through pre and pro biotics to the benefit of patients.

Prof. Adam Cunliffe • Having completed a Masters degree and PhD in Human Nutrition Adam spent two years working with critical care patients in the intensive therapy unit at the Royal London Hosptal. He then established a career as a researcher and educator, teaching at several major London Universities. He also founded Cavendish Health Services, a successful nutrition and health screening and advisory service at the University of Westminster.
With expertise in anti-ageing, weight loss, clinical nutrition, sports nutrition and management of stress and fatigue, Adam has been featured on CNN, BBC TV, Channel 4, national and local press and BBC Radio.
Adam has published his research findings on multiple aspects of diet and health including diabetes, obesity, fatigue states, human performance and nutrition for healthy ageing. He has shared his expertise in nutrition and health as an inspirational speaker for government departments and major corporations in London. He has also provided professional development services to private and NHS healthcare professionals.
In addition to teaching, research and media commentary, Adam also offers one to one nutrition counselling to clients, providing nutritional guidance for a wide range of health conditions ranging from helping those wishing to optimise health and wellbeing or sports performance, through to long term health conditions and stress states.
