This online webinar will cover the theory and practice of an osteopathic approach to head and neck trauma. Andrew Taylor Still's approach was developed by Charlotte Weaver DO and based on the writings of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
Founded on a mindset that always works within the whole, the initial presentation will cover osteopathic philosophy, phenomenology, wholeness, a review of anatomy and mechanisms of trauma together with Weaver's approach to the three cranial vertebrae, the metamorphosis of form, Still's intuitive consciousness, and the relationship of the head to the whole skeletal system.
Clinical assessment of the head and neck will be covered including: levels of consciousness, loss of consciousness, diffuse/focal brain injury, complications, facial injuries, cranial nerve examination, sequela of head and neck injury in clinical practice, including case history and group discussion. We will also discuss dietary and psychological support for recovery.
The webinar will address the application of perception in palpation, relationship of palpating phenomenologically and dynamically as well as regional anatomy of the head and neck and explore simple clinical testing and assessment of post trauma patients with the application of the SCAT (Sport Concussion Assessment Tool) and the Glasgow Coma Scale.

      Walter Llewellyn McKone, DO graduated from the then British School of Osteopathy in 1984. He was immediately involved in American Football; as Athletic Heath Officer for the UK British American Football League, as an osteopath for the National Football League (USA), the UK British American Football League, and 15 years as osteopath to the London Monarchs World League of American football. During this period he was also osteopath to Haringey Rhinos Rugby Union team for a total period spanning 20 years. Walter has taught osteopathic history and philosophy, psychology, cranial vertabrae, sports medicine and paediatrics in the UK, Germany, Italy, Greece and now teaches at Akademia Osteopathii, Poland with whom he collaborated for 12 years. Walter has been in practice for 35 years in north London. Publications include Osteopathic Athletic Healthcare (1999), Osteopathic Medicine (2001) and numerous contributions to works in German and English.
